We met Dr Kuhn today-
What a nice Dr...
unlike some of the others we have met.
Basically, he believes that it IS a medical condition causing Jackson to not like eatting. It could be a few things... the most obvious being reflux. It could also be eosinophilic esophagitis, celiacs disease or esophagitis (irritation) caused by his salt supplements. (http://www.eosinophilicesophagitishome.org/)
The plan is to try a medicine called Carafate for 2 weeks (and cont. the Prevacid) to see if it improves his eatting. It coats the lining of the esophagus and can help in the event of reflux or irritation.
Then, when Jackson goes for his uro surgery in July (A WHOLE NOTHER STORY), the GI Dr will scope him down to his intestines and take 4 biopsies.
We also have to talk to his Kidney Dr about changing up his Salt ? maybe there is a tablet form?.
His medicine needs prior authorization from insurance before they will cover it ($200) so we have to wait until Tuesday to start it - bummer!!
But... we are finally getting somewhere.
YAY!!!!!
******************
When Dr Kuhn went to email Jackson's surgeon that he would be in on the surgery on June 21st, he told me that according to the computer, the surgery was scheduled for July 16th...?!?!?!?!?!?
I called the surgeon's office and the lady was very apologetic. The surgeon decided to take some vacation time in July and apparently whoever rescheduled 48 patients, never bothered to call them and let them know!!!! They are going to try to squeeze Jackson in sooner, if something opens up, since we were under the impression that his surgery would be done in a few weeks after our April 2nd appt. At this rate, he'll have 3 more UTIs by July 16th!!
We're not stressing about it though... things seem to keep happening the way they should!
