Jacks Broken Thumb

Um....
OUCH!!!!

His right thumb got smoothed between a wooden shelf and the basement floor... We think, anyway.  I wasn't home.  Jason wrapped it in gauze and Jenni told me I had to look at his little cut and clean it.  I couldn't understand why he was Freakibg out, so I ended up yanking the gauze dressing off.  Imagine my regret when I saw this...

Um.... A little cut?!?  OK.

So, a trip to the ER showed us this view....

Maybe we SHOULD have medicated him!!

Turns out, it's an open fracture so he's on abx for 10 days and we have to see his Dr tomorrow. He put his splint to good use... He attempted to pick his nose with it.

Today is his 3rd day of having a broken thumb.  Pain is under control. But he's still oozing blood.  Pediatrician wants us to go to CHOP in Monday to see an Ortho Doc.  He hates dressing changes but loves that he gets a new kind of dressing each time. I think we finally got a winner... Plus he likes that we used some extra sticky gauze to turn him into a Ninja!

7/27 We saw the Orthopedist today who is happy with everything.  We're good to go to pool or beach.  He'll wear the splint for 3 more weeks, as tolerated.  We have an X-ray and appt in 2 weeks for a follow up.

8/10: Once we left for the beach, his splint never got back on his finger!  But Ortho Dr says we're good!  His nail will definitely fall off, but then he should have no more issues!  He has no pain anymore.

9/1/15:
Starting to come up at the base...

Update 9/21/15:
His nail finally fell off after a few days of "hanging by a thread". Let's hope it grows in better than its looking right now!

Abundant Living

The We celebrated our thirteenth anniversary by starting Couples Counselling at Abundant Living Ministries.  We met with an older in-your-face couple... And we really liked it!  We'll see Naomi and Lamar again next week.  We've each been meeting with the Pastors at church and thought it was finally time to meet with someone together.

After four months, we continue to really benefit from meeting with our counsellors at Abundabt Living. Grace and prayer seem to be our theme.

Dutch Wonderland 2015

What used to be daily trips, have become  yearly trips to Dutch Winderland.   😂

The kids get their free tickets thanks to the Lancaster County Libraries.  This year Jason joined us for the free twilight visit last night.  We took the boys.  Honestly, those 3 hours were enough!  But, the girls were expecting a full day at Dutch Wonderland  today, so we had to go...

Jimmy was more fearless then Jack!! He loved this tall dark fast tunnel boat ride with Daddy!

Jacks newest photo pose :(

Always a winner...

These were new, and a hit!

Every one of my kids has used the water fun as a bidet!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!

Punch, punch, kick, punch, kick...
BOYS!!!

Jack (almost) always shares with his little brother.

Jimmy- taking a break from Dino bone digging.

Jack begged me to take this two pics...

Our usual tongue-out selfie.

The 4th in the Mts

It's taken us 5 years, but we trekked back up to the Dombach's cabin for the Fourth of July weekend... and I am so glad that we did.  The kids  We all had a great time.  I did take a bottle of Ativan with me though... too much nature for this lady!!  The whole Liounis side went and all of the kids got along great!

We were busy the whole time but had plenty of time to relax... swimming in the flooded creek, 4 wheelers, Poppop Moore's hammock, shooting guns, wedding planning, scavenger hunts, tubing down the creek, fireworks, eating, and playing.  Good, good time.  I only took my iPhone, but here's my favorite pictures that I took... unfortunately there are none of the tubing expedition that we took the girls on :(

The boys and their toys...

Poppop Moore's hammock was a hit all weekend...

The creek that was all rocks last time we came was a raging river this time... it didn't stop the kids!

Poppop took Jack down to the bear feeders and was showing him around...

I hate pix of myself, so we've started taking pix together like this...

Jennibelle, aka "The Baby Whisperer"

Lost in thought, wedding planning!

RIDE TIME!!!!  Jimmy is squished in the middle!

Just chilling...

4th of July in Galeton.  There were neat Chinese Laterns everywhere when we drove up over the mt.

There's Jaylee and Nan's trail through the thick grass... the came across a lot of bear poop on their adventure... they had no idea how far out in the woods they had gone and this was their best bet to getting home.

Jimmy loved the fire pit and was making his own "fires"

My little men...

Nan put together a fun scavenger hunt... when was going over the rules.

The hunt led us down ONTO one of the bear feeders... I asked Jack if he knew how much I loved him, to be down there with him...

and straight into the "bear den" for the last clue... yikes!  I kept waiting for a rattle snake to get us.

Looks like this will be our new 4th of July tradition... FUN TIMES!!!
