He has NO idea what he is in for in the morning...
Unfortunately, we do...
That makes my heart sad.
(Sat, June 28th) Ok... So the morning did not get off to a good start... We were supposed to leave at 4:15 but we didn't even wake until 5:10. Whoops! He slept most of the 90 mph ride and was in good spirits when they carried him back. I've had my melt down and we're now eating breakfast waiting. Should be a 90-120 min procedure.

Everything went A-OK!! Yay!!!
It was a two hour procedure and he woke very irritable, but didn't seem to be in pain. We were discharged at noon, after he got pain meds. His tube will stay in place 7-10 days. Looking at him makes my toes curl.
I sure do love him and feel so bad for him... He sits/lays with his right leg up in the air.

He's been a good sport all day. It's close to bed time, we've been staying on top of his pain meds, went for a few walks, and watched a lot of VocabuLarry. He's survived a few diaper changes and I don't think he's even noticed that the other kids are gone! He seems to have forgiven us... whew!

(Sunday) JB and Jack came back this afternoon... both are very gentle with him. Jaylee is off having too much fun in FL... she must not have worried about b/c she never called. Keeping with pain meds every 4 hours.

(Monday) Today was a little rough but we survived. His dsg came off and he's oozing a little blood from everywhere. His cath won't come out until July 9th b/c his surgeon is away (I am NOT happy and asked his Ped to take it out earlier for us... should only be in 7-10 days)

(Tuesday) He still wakes up twice a night for 90 mins at a time, but is doing okay. No terrible pain spells and he is pleasant most times. He tolerated a bath well. His swelling is bad, but not terrible.

(Weds) Dr Sumfest said things look great and wants me to remove his cath on July 4th. He was a great trooper for the 4 hour car trip! The Leclairs were here and he was a bit overwhelmed, but he really has not slept for more than a few hours each night since surgery.

(Thurs) He had a rougher day... moments of terrible irritability, not sure if they are bladder spasms. I tested him for a UTI, but it was only + for trace blood and small amt protein - not sure why the protein, I'll have to follow that. We decided to remove his cath tonight... went great and the cath was a lot longer than I expected. Each girl held and arm and Jason pinned his hips down. He was laying in the dining room table, and stained the one side with some pee... whoops!!! Good memories! Ten minuets later he peed another 50-100 ccs and has been pleasant all evening! I'm glad we did it. It's very swollen and red, but his balls aren't near as bruised as Jack's were. Whew.
Update: 7/18: things are going well... pretty much fully healed but yest he suddenly has about ten tiny white sutures on the head and underside of his weiner. I emailed Dr Sumfest... " Probably vicryl sutures, call me if not gone in 2 weeks". It's called "spitting sutures"
Update 7/28: Sutures are gone. Things seem a little "crooked" to me and there is an area of skin tagging... we will f/u with Dr Sumfest in a few months.

Second time trying to post. So glad it was not a horrible event for him. He has probably forgotten all about it by now!
